A shared commitment to quality: Three of our wines honored at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Wine Competition.

AWI’s 2023 "Mitad Mitad" was awarded a "Double Gold" medal and the "Best of Show South America" distinction; the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon earned a Gold medal and the title of "Reserve Category Champion for South America," while the 2022 Reserve Malbec received a Silver medal.

A proud moment for AWI. Once again, our wines were recognized in the 2026-27 edition of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Wine Competition.

This year’s event, held on October 5 and 6, featured participation from over 230 wineries across 12 countries. A total of 255 wines were submitted by 40 Texas-based wineries, bringing the number of entries to more than 817 from across the United States and around the world. The wines were evaluated by a distinguished panel of 60 experts, with five judges tasked with selecting the winning wines.

For AWI, this marks another achievement to celebrate—a recognition that fills us with pride and highlights the hard work behind Mitad Mitad, as well as the winery’s commitment to crafting unique wines from Argentina’s Uco Valley.

Two varieties, one distinctive blend
The name Mitad Mitad refers to its composition: 50% Chardonnay and 50% Viognier, crafted from premium-quality grapes grown in AWI’s own vineyards.

This barrel-fermented white wine is characterized by its dry, complex, and creamy profile. By combining two varieties in equal proportions, Mitad Mitad showcases the character of the fruit and demonstrates the potential of this blend to create a wine with a distinct identity.

Securing both a “Double Gold” medal and the “Best of Show South America” award represents a significant milestone for this wine and is a source of pride for everyone involved in its creation.

More accolades for AWI Wines
In addition to the award received by Mitad Mitad, two other wines from our portfolio also earned recognition—a testament to the diversity of AWI’s offerings.

  • 2022 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon | Gold Medal and South America Reserve Class Champion. This recognition acknowledges the wine among the competition’s leading entries in its class.

  • 2022 Reserve Malbec | Silver Medal. Another distinction for AWI, adding to the winery’s achievements at this year’s event.

Together, these awards represent a strong result for AWI Wines and bring further recognition to the wines produced in the Uco Valley.

Celebrating the craft behind every bottle
From the balanced composition of Mitad Mitad to the distinctive character of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Malbec, these awards bring further acclaim to wines crafted in the Uco Valley—celebrating the artisanal craftsmanship and the thoughtful decisions behind every bottle.

We are proud to see our wines recognized on the international stage, and we are grateful to everyone who helps bring them to life.
